In a recent newsletter, I had written about a friend who had been diagnosed with cancer. The response from many of you wanting to help was heartwarming. I can now tell you who the friend is. Our friend is Larry Nichols. www.larrynichols.com. Thought you might like an update:
For the past several months, Larry has been ill and in great pain. He had been going to the doctors, who at first thought he had a very serious form of cancer. They performed many tests and were convinced that it was cancer and that it had also invaded his lungs and spinal system. One of the problems was that there were two tumors on his lungs. Although they did not appear to be very large, they still presented a problem.
It was finally decided that the tumors on his lungs needed to be removed and so Larry was operated on about a week ago. The surgery was done using a laser and did not require opening his chest, just inserting the laser through a series of small holes. Larry said that it "hurt like hell," but when he woke up all his pain was gone even the pain in his spine. He is recovering now and will be for another week or so. Being Larry, he tried to get back on the radio and doing all the things that he normally does right after going home, but like the rest of us, he's human and can't find his suit with the "S" on the chest. So he is now home recovering one day at a time.
If you would like to send Larry a card, address it to Larry Nichols, 58 Kensington Drive, Conway, AR 72034. Tell him Jayne's Garden sent you and we all wish him the best!
