I have read some things about sodium laural sulfate, but I have also noticed some products contain sodium laurETH sulfate. Is it harmful? What is the difference?
You have a nice web site. I hope your message board takes off too. It would be very helpful to have a place to ask questions.
Thank you.

Hi Michael, How are you ? The answer to these questions are that both sodium lauryl and laureth are basically protein denaturisers and we are made of protein! These things are usually used in some concrete cleaners and engine degreasers. they CAN be even more toxic if mixed with certain other ingredients in hair shampoo / conditioner products. SOME manufacturers use these ingredients because they are cheap, and help make the product froth to look good. Some toothpastes have SLS in as well and the end product CAN end up as strong as or maybe stronger than dishwashing liquid, - yuch !- Please take care when choosing your products - continue to read the labels as you are obviously now doing. If you like I can put you in touch with someone who can point you to products without these things in. Regards John
